PaPaPub is a Lewd RPG/Dating Sim with many Different Features by R’lyeh

What the fuck do you play when you can’t make up your mind about what you want to play? Sometimes you simply want a little bit of everything. You need a sampler platter of a game that has features and aspects picked out from other genres. Now, I like the sound of that kind of game on paper, but we’re getting into dangerous waters. Once you start melding genres and shit you need to make sure that each aspect is solid. You don’t want to throw in a bunch of lackluster mechanics and call it a day. But, hey, I figured that there had to be a decent game with loads of different gameplay mechanics out there.

The first one that I want to talk about is a game called PaPaPub. It’s a self-touted “RPG+SIM+GALGAME” experience. I’m eager to see if they managed to actually hit the mark on all of those elements, but I don’t want to get too ahead of myself here. Let’s cover all of the usual bases first. It seems like the game launched back in early 2019, but there’s not a lot of information out there about the development cycle of the game. I couldn’t tell you how long it took them to make this shit.

The creator is called R’lyeh. You can find this game for $12-ish USD over at Dlsite.com. The game is supposedly completed, but I think the creator and I have different definitions of what that actually means. I’ll get into that here in a minute. If you do some light searching, then you can find this title on quite a few free platforms. I always recommend supporting the developer, but this shit is everywhere.

You play as a retired adventurer in this fantasy world where adventuring is a respected and noble profession. You’ve settled down after your years of delving into crypts, slaying monsters, and fucking babes. Instead of that old life full of danger, you decide to open up a small pub for fellow adventurers to come and stay at in-between quests. Sounds simple, right? Well, it’s a bit more complicated than it sounds.

Run a Pub, Go on Quests, Fight Battles, and Fuck Hot Babes

The RPG elements come in when you have to go out and fight battles across the map to earn supplies for your pub. For the life of me, I could not figure out what the fuck these battles were. There are no controls. You don’t build an army. You don’t have a harem. You don’t even have characters. You click on a location and watch as two armies battle without being able to do a damn thing. And, not to brag too much, but I’ve never lost. I don’t know if you can lose. I don’t get the goddamn point of this combat system. Oh, and every bit of text that comes up will be in

Chinese or something. But you only get that in these combat scenes. You use your winnings to buy stuff for your pub like new tables, wallpaper, curtains, beds, and all of that good stuff. I don’t really see what these upgrades do. Maybe they increase traffic? I’m not sure. The game sure as hell doesn’t give you any clues. You have nights where a bunch of patrons come and mingle around for a bit, but there’s no clear way to interact with them. The night passes without anything happening at all. I’m struggling to find any goddamn gameplay elements here that aren’t watching a short animation play.

Drug Slutty Adventurers that Stay at Your Pub

After the night is over you have a chance of encountering a slutty traveler. The first babe that you meet is this busty nun who decides to stay the night. Once she goes upstairs you get a list of options for, basically, raping her. You can use sleeping pills to drug her, and you will unlock more drugs and devices as the game progresses. Oh, and picking the wrong item to use on a girl may very well result in you losing the game, so make sure to save often.

Once you get the drugging bit right you can take these hot babes to pound town. You get a multi-paneled sex scene for each one, and the art is fucking amazing. Each scene is done in a classic, high-quality hentai style that all of you weebs will love. Though I do have to be the bearer of some bad news—it’s all censored. Unfortunately, you’ll have to settle for pixelated pussies and dicks. At least the rest of the art is fucking awesome. It was definitely a bit of a bummer to not be able to see the good shit though. But there’s only so much you can do when these games get ported over from eastern countries with censorship laws.

Jerk off to HD, Censored Hentai Illustrations

Since this game costs some cash, I was hoping to get some sexy fucking sounds or moans to fap to during these scenes. Nope. You get some erotic dialog, but I’ll tell you why that’s not really a selling point soon. You do get some quality music throughout the game, but I still found myself wanting a bit more from these hentai scenes. They went all out with the art. It can’t be that hard to get some hot audio in there. Loads of indie porn games with much shittier visuals have managed to pull it off.

Shitty Machine Translated Writing

The writing is some of the worst that I’ve seen. It must have been machine-translated a few times over, because none of this shit makes any goddamn sense. The text is janky and full of typos. But the poor design work only starts there. The menus are all kinds of fucked up. The text doesn’t fit in the boxes that it is supposed to. Some menu options haven’t been translated at all. It’s a hot mess.

BestSexGame’s Favorite Features

I liked that this game didn’t hold out with the crazy fetish porn. This game gets dark. Don’t let its quirky and cute fantasy visuals fool you. This game is about drugging and raping fantasy babes in their sleep. It doesn’t get much more fucked up than that. Well, it does. But you know what I mean. You get hit with a hot sex scene every few nights of gameplay. That’s not too fucking bad. The frequency of these scenes will keep you horny gamers fapping for hours.

And the visuals for each scene are pretty nice. Yeah, sure, the scenes are censored. There’s no getting around that. But I didn’t end up minding that much. The art is still fucking fantastic. Each scene will have multiple panels for you to jerk your dicks to. And you can pop back to the title menu to revisit these scenes anytime you want!

BestSexGame’s Suggestions

This game needs to be completely reworked. I hate to say it, but it’s true. The combat system doesn’t make any fucking sense. The actual dating sim mechanics are pretty much non-existent. The quests and RPG elements aren’t integrated well. It feels like someone jammed three half-decent games together to make this absolute clusterfuck of a game. I just don’t know what to do with it or even suggest where to begin with the fixes. This is something that I would have expected from an alpha release and not a “completed” title. It needs a better plot, a translator, a tutorial, missions that make sense, design work, and so much more before I would even consider it to be playable.

Overall, PaPaPub is worth checking out if you can get your hands on it for free. It’s simply not worth the asking price as it is. It’s a goddamn mess of a game. It’s unfinished. It’s not been translated well. You fucks already know my complaints. I wish I could recommend it based on the sex scenes along, but even they aren’t enough to bring this game up to snuff. But, hey, we all have different tastes. Check it out for yourself and see if you can get past some of the janky stuff that I couldn’t.
