This game has been in the works since the start of 2018 by a developer known as Syvaron. Man, this fuck is slow. I get it. The project is ambitious as all hell. But sometimes these developers bite off way more than they can chew. It’s been nearly three years and the game has just reached version 0.13.0.1. That’s still fucking years away from being anywhere near completed. Oh, of course, he has a side project that’s slowing things down even more. Anyway, you can pick up a copy of the game if you dish out at least a dollar a month over at Patreon.com/Syvaron. You start off with a rather in-depth character creator. It’s not in-depth in the sense that you can customize your appearance or anything like that. You get three choices: a futa, babe, and a dude. Each character has a different magical path with their own story leanings. So, each character will have a slightly different story, though they all follow the same general plotline. I, of course, went with the hot babe with the dope-ass snake wrapping around her. That’s the kind of sexy shit I like to see.

Customize Your Character & Starting Monster Sluts

Once you pick your initial character you can fuck around with their stats. Each one has traits that modify stats, and you have a pool of 20 or so points that you can plug in at the start. You can make her strong, agile, lustful, fertile, magical, and all kinds of stuff like that. From there, you go on to customize your starting duo of monster girls. You can pick a succubus, centaur, harpy, fish slut, and quite a few other exotic options. You have full range to customize their stats as you see fit as well. After all of that happens, you get the intro story. For mine, I was sitting on some hill watching two gods do battle with my hot lesbian girlfriend when, all of a sudden, there was a bright flash of light. We both wake up infused with different “sparks” that match our ideals. These sparks are parts of the gods that exploded during the battle. You each absorbed opposite ideals and swear to meet back up and duke it out once and for all. But, for now, your job is to amass an army of monster girls to help you take back the wild, unkempt areas of the world.

Cluttered Menus & Complicated Mechanics Make for a Steep Learning Curve

This is where the complicated shit starts. This game is a bit of a hot mess. There are menus and trackers everywhere that aren’t explained well. There is a help menu where you can get the run-down on these things, but a standard tutorial mission would have been helpful. I like a more hands-on approach instead of just reading through a boring menu. But that’s a small complaint. I was able to figure out the basics after 5-10 minutes of fucking around with my options. Your goal is to get to know the people in the nearby town while you recruit and train monster girls for battle. Oh, and you can fuck them anytime you want. You don’t have to deal with earning sex scenes or any of that shit. But, yeah, you beef up your monster babes and set out to explore a dangerous world. It’s all grid-based exploration and battle. You have a certain number of spaces you can move and elemental attacks that you can make. It’s pretty in-depth if not a little clunky.

Stunning Fantasy Art & Lackluster Writing

Visually, this game is fucking brilliant. I think I’ve discovered that I’m a sucker for painted fantasy art. That shit gets me every time. It makes the game looks so fucking good. And the art is consistently beautiful throughout the entire game. But, sadly, the visuals aren’t enough to make up for the poorly designed menus and typo-ridden writing. The writing is on the cusp of being good. It has the right style and approach to it, but it’s being written by a novice. Bring in a skilled writer to flesh that shit out and make it sound good.

The sex scenes are exactly what I wanted from a game like this. They have that classic art style that I mentioned above. Each one is uncensored. I can’t say the same about most in-development games that I end up playing. I hope to Sylvaron speed things up and get the money he needs to work on this title full-time. The game needs a lot of reworking, but it’s not a lost cause. With the right attention to detail, this game is on track to being one of the best lewd turn-based strategy games out there. I just hope Sylvaron has got the development chops to get it done in a timely manner.

Overall, I recommend picking up Portals of Phereon if you love strategy games and/or monster girls. It’s got the best aspects of both genres. And it will only run you a dollar. That’s not a big commitment at all. Plus, you more people buy into this shit the faster the developer can get it done. If none of that sells you, then consider buying it for the hot sex scenes alone.
